Cornish vets Penmellyn presented with BestUKVets 2017 award

On the 29th March, this year’s overall winner of the BestUKVets 2017 award, Penmellyn Vets in St Columb Major, based in Cornwall, was presented with their trophy by the founder of VetHelpDirect, Susie Samuel.  This was a proud moment for everyone at the practice and it was fantastic to see so many of their devoted clients in attendance to share this special moment with them.

During her presentation speech, Susie highlighted the tremendous effort that the clinic obviously made to put client care at the heart of the practice, “Penmellyn vets received 839 reviews, which is the highest ever number of reviews for any practice in the entire history of BestUKVets.  This is a fantastic achievement and incredibly well deserved, it’s been a great day and a real honour to meet everyone and present the award”.

Penmellyn partner Philip Harris, who accepted the award on behalf of the St Columb Major clinic, addressed the 50 strong audience, “This is a real honour for Penmellyn Vets and I know that all the directors are Immensely proud of the work that we do here.  It really is thanks to all the hard work from our staff and the excellent care that they take of our clients and their pets every day”.

Penmellyn really did shine this year and, as well as storming to victory with the title of BestUKVets 2017, their equine team also bagged the highly sought after award for Best Equine Vets. Susie Samuel presented the certificate to director Ruth Varcoe who received it on behalf of the equine team.

In honour of this prestigious event, the decision was taken to close the doors to all the Penmellyn Vets branch practices between 11 am and 2 pm (bar emergency appointments and in-patient care), to enable as many as possible from the wider team to attend.

With so much to celebrate, the atmosphere was buzzing with proud clients and team members enjoying the lavish award cake, nibbles and drinks. Keen not to forget the practice’s four-legged clients, invites were also extended to clients’ pets and honorary canine team members – who also turned out for the big day.

The award-winning care taken of both clients and patients inspired nearly 900 glowing reviews on two of the largest UK veterinary directories, www.vetHelpDirect.com and www.Any-UK-Vet.com.

One client, Jane Dyer, who had taken the time to leave a review, commented at the award ceremony, “I joined the practice in the mid-80s and have been with them ever since.  They are such a friendly and amazing team and are always very compassionate and caring – they really are just a lovely caring bunch”.

It was a fantastic day for the clients and the practice team at Penmellyn Vets, who are clearly very deserving winners of this year’s BestUKVets award.

Background on the Best UK Vets Awards

This is the 5th year of the Best UK Vets Awards, which recognise exceptional customer satisfaction. For the past year, veterinary practices all over the UK have been working hard to accumulate as many 4* and 5* reviews from their clients as possible on www.VetHelpDirect.com and www.Any-UK-Vet.co.uk

There are several Best-In-Category Awards, which recognise all sizes and types of practice; however, to qualify for a Category award, a practice must either be in the Top 25 or have received 52 reviews (i.e. one per week on average) over the preceding year.

Background on Penmellyn Vets

Penmellyn Vets is an independent practice owned by six veterinary surgeons, who are all based in Cornwall. They have been providing veterinary care to the pets and horses of Cornwall for over 130 years. They still cover their own out of hours’ care and their services include preventative healthcare packages for their cat and dog-owning clients, ‘LifeCare’ and ‘LifeCare+’. The latter grants clients access to unlimited vet and nurse consultations 6 days a week – something that is currently only offered by Penmellyn Vets in Cornwall.
